I never miss a chance to stamp a sunflower. It’s one of my favorite flowers (and the state flower of my Homeland…)
Anyway, as you may notice, there is no stampin’ here… We’re getting off easy. Just a punch and a couple turns of the big shot handle and you have instant sunflower!
Hope you have a sunny and wonderful July!

May Day is here! May always reminds me of full on floral blooms. Between May day in Hawaii where all the children in school have a May day program that celebrates all things floral in Hawaii (it’s more than that, but the flowers really take center stage). And mother’s day is full of flowers… May is really a blooming month! I love this Eastern Palace set because of all the intricate floral arrangements you can create with it. And they remind me of mandalas…which also remind me of flowers. I hope your May is full of flowers. Both in the literal and in the joy that life brings. Happy New Year!
Happy New Calendar! One of my favorite things about the new year is it’s a fresh new everything. And as I’m currently in the process of making the house fresh and new (not ACTUALLY…. But you know, the customary and impulsive cleaning and organizing that a new year brings) I’m excited to show you the new 2018 easel calendar!
I really do enjoy making these calendars. Here is the January edition for you today:
These adorable lanterns come from the Color Me Happy stamp set. I got lots of practice with the new Stampin’ Blends markers (the alcohol based markers that replaced the Blendabilities). I am SO happy to be able to have these markers again. They make coloring so much more fun. I also dabbed a bit of Wink of Stella glimmer on each of them… Cause glitter makes everything much more festive. Hard to see… But this photo makes it a little better:
And as in years past, Anne and Cheryl will be joining me again for a little 2018 calendar tour! So you will be able to see three different takes on each month! Hope you enjoy! Click the links to see what Anne and Cheryl made for you!
And… For you calendar DIYers… Anne has made a Pinterest board for everyone to post the calendars we all make. Send me your Pinterest user ID and we will add you to the board!
Happy 2018 to you!
As I mentioned in March, Hawaii has a tradition of celebrating Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day. Well, March was for the girls. And MAY is for the boys! May 5 to be exact. And, the tradition is to fly a flag off the porch that has the carp on it. One for each male member in the family. So…
Here is our BOYS’ Day FLAG! (I technically need 3 flags for my family, but we have to pretend here). This cute little fish comes from the Jar of Love stamp set. (A set that has SO MANY possibilities. You most definitely need it).

I may have just done something I have NEVER done before… Used a stamp NOT from Stampin’ Up! (GASP). Before you go calling the authorities, hear me out… let me plead my case.
Here in Hawaii we celebrate a holiday called Girls’ Day (On March 3–which also happens to be the birthday of my oldest son…) And, Girls’ Day is a big deal here. And, it is traditionally celebrated by displaying Japanese Dolls, but I didn’t have any stamps like that, so I chose the cherry blossom. Cause that’s the only other stamp that I had that was remotely close… (When, you see my post for May, celebrating Boys’ Day, you will understand what compelled me to try to do something for the girls… you know, equal treatment…) 🙂
I do love this cherry blossom stamp. It is feminine, gorgeous, and a perfect way to usher in spring and the newness that spring brings. And, I used little dollops of the wink of stella to make it shimmer just a bit (ALL the paper–pink pirouette and whisper white– and ink –soft suede and pink pirouette) are from Stampin’ Up… so I haven’t completely disowned my upbringing…

Sweet butterflies! We have some lantana in our backyard that attracts a particular kind of butterfly (Not a bermuda bay butterfly… but still) Zeke and Hannie love to watch and chase them. So, this Butterfly Basics stamp set creates the ‘perfect backyard’ on paper…. I love the leaf stem. I’ve used it multiple times on projects. Makes a great central image as well as a great background image!
The butterfly punch makes punching butterflies out a breeze!
